This episode screams fanservice for the first half of the episode. It doesn’t feel as intentional as other series since its mixed up with character development simultaneously. Also, you later find that it made sense in terms of eastern culture (though I don’t know much about it even though I probably should), but its respectful or in-practice to clean your body and dress formally for a ritual, which was why Shino had Senjougahara head home to shower.

The second half of the episode is regarding to the ritual to call the god, and it goes into Senjougahara’s background and explains the cause of her weight.
