News

I did a news section just for the sake of organizing the page into content blocks of information. So the usual, it tells you what's happening with the site and all. I doubt I'll get a lot of people coming around to this little corner for a news section anyways...

Just a note for IE users, this CSS design is not fully supported for you! Well, the only thing I notice so far is the panel that's suppose to be on the right isn't there, and I guess the top navigation. Fixes for IE won't be implemented until I decide that this design is complete.

The Rebirth of AboutMe, AboutMe II!

Post on Tuesday August 27/2007 - 09:28:24 PM

So yeah, the second version of AboutMe. I decided to make this into a series of site like how I've done it with my "Index" pages since they're small fun little pages to work with. This site will no longer be a blog, but now reduced to a small single page about myself. The reason being, they're easy to manage since I can just update the HTML, I don't have to spend a lot of time trying to get a CMS up for myself (yeah, I'd rather try coding a CMS for myself instead of using open source tools, it just feels different when you don't know the software you're using), and finally, it'll probably be more encouraging to have a page to put whatever content you want instead of a strict structural kinda sense of blogging.

Like when I make a post on my blog, the thing that comes straight to mind is you're going to write something about your day, or speculate about some events in your surrounding everyday life and criticize upon it; and that's something I want to avoid. I want an idea of things being loose when I write something, and I'm not bound to any set of rules or procedures.

After reading "Simply Javascript" by Kevin Yank and Cameron Adams, I decided to build this page from bottom to top. That's starting from the HTML, to CSS, then finishing off with cool, flashy, and don't forget frustrating (only applies to certain browsers once you know how to debug) Javascript. So this should be an interesting process since I've usually jumped in between HTML and CSS, which often drifts to CSS since designing usually ends up being more fun than writing content.

You know, I just realized, you don't see these single site pages very often now. It reminds me back to 1999 when a new "HTML Wizards" in-learning would put single page websites together, and throw on whatever content they want that obviously lacks organization.

Anyways, you can contact me through this form.

The Beginning of AboutMe

Hi! Welcome to my Blog known as "About Me". This is where I keep thoughts and information about myself, so feel free to read through my comments and thoughts about my interests and hobbies.

I'm currently 22, a recent graduate of Mohawk College in Software Engineering. I'm still jobless since the last day of school; which was just a little over a month ago. I plan to get into the web industry despite the program I was in, but I seem to have greater interest in that web development. I have been developing websites since my first web class in 2001 of high school.

My aim at this point for this site is to make an entry at least once a month on every section. I usually don't like to write daily, but when I do write up something about myself, I want it to be meaningful and thoughtful as oppose to a "What happened today in my everyday-normal life?" topic.

New sections and features will be added as they become necessary. The Anime and Song sections will be dedicated to nominating Anime and Song of the month monthly. The Blog and Review section will be filled out as they are needed.

This site is using CuteNews for back-end content management. This template was found on OSWD, and I put together this single script viewing-page.

Well, on my original design for this template, this area was suppose to hold additional information regarding the page it was on, but since I'm using a single page website concept (for now), there's really no point to this additional panel.

It might as well end up being a place for me to put randomish stuffs up.
